If your family is anything like mine, your weeknights are busy, which means that we need to get dinner on the table fast. They also want dinner to be delicious because, I mean, who wants to be eating bland food? You could be cooking all day or have dinner on the table in under thirty minutes, but either way, it needs to taste good!

This Creamy Parmesan Baked Chicken is a family favorite in our house. This chicken recipe makes juicy baked chicken the easy way by nestling it in a creamy garlic parmesan sauce that the whole family will love,

The thing I love the most about this recipe is that you get perfectly baked chicken with tons of flavor and minimal effort, and it's on the table fast for you and your family to enjoy any day of the week!

  1. Mix the sauce.
  2. Season the chicken and place it in a baking dish.
  3. Top with the sauce.
  4. Sprinkle on more parmesan cheese.
  5. Bake until done.

Tips and Tricks

  • This recipe uses mayonnaise as part of its base. You can make it homemade (really easy), or I highly recommend the Primal Kitchens brand.
  • I prefer to make this recipe with boneless chicken. Feel free to use chicken breasts or even boneless, skinless thighs in this recipe. Just note that the cooking times of the chicken will vary depending on the size of the meat. Don't worry if your chicken has to cook a little longer; the creamy parmesan sauce will help keep in the moisture.
  • Freshly grated parmesan melts the best in the oven and is what I recommend in this recipe.
  • Use fresh chicken for this recipe. If you are using frozen chicken, make sure you fully defrost the chicken and pat it dry before adding the sauce on top.

How to get the best baked chicken.

I get asked a lot about how to keep chicken from drying out in the oven. There is no concrete way to do this, but there are a few simple tips and tricks for keeping chicken juicy when I am baking it that I always do.

What is the best temperature to bake chicken?

I prefer the texture of chicken breasts when it's baked at a higher temperature. This garlic parmesan chicken is baked at 400 degrees.

Don't overcrowd the chicken when baking.

Chicken tends to release liquid as it bakes. If you overcrowd the chicken, this liquid can make the chicken soggy. Giving the chicken room while baking helps that excess liquid evaporate better.

Don't overbake your chicken.

I recommend investing in a simple meat thermometer to check on your chicken without having to cut into it. When chicken is cooked, it should read 165 degrees when the thermometer is placed in the thickest part of the meat.

Why should you rest your chicken before eating?

Resting chicken is a non-negotiable in my book when it comes to making the best-baked chicken. Really any meat should be rested. If you do not let your chicken rest, it doesn't allow the juices to redistribute throughout the meat. Instead, you will end up with the juices on your cutting board instead of in the actual chicken. I prefer to allow the chicken to rest for 5-10 minutes before eating it.
