This Creamy Horseradish Sauce will take your home cooking and amp it up to the classic steakhouse quality. The possibilities are endless!

When was the last time you had horseradish sauce? It's probably the last time you had prime rib since it's usually a go-to sauce served with it at all the steakhouses. It's perhaps not even something you thought about making yourself because how often do we make prime rib? I know it's usually something I make maybe once a year around the holidays.

That doesn't stop me from making this Creamy Horseradish Sauce, though. I mean, hello, we do make steak on a fairly regular basis, and this is even great with pork and chicken. Explore a little bit with your food and have fun!

What Does Horseradish Taste Like?

Horseradish has a spicy, peppery flavor profile, which can be overwhelming on its own. However, when you pair it in this creamy sauce, it balances it out while still letting you enjoy that full flavor.

Prepared Horseradish vs Horseradish Cream vs Fresh Horseradish:

These, while similar, they are different! When you look at each one at the grocery store, you will see various types of prepared horseradish, and then in the vegetable area (usually near the herbs) is fresh. Trust me, stick with the fresh!

Why?

Prepared horseradish and cream horseradish are made with grated horseradish, vinegar, and usually some oil and spices. Prepared horseradish can have a harsher, much more robust flavor. Horseradish cream is generally mixed with other ingredients and can often be blander.

Skip both of these and go to the vegetable aisle and grab a fresh chunk of horseradish if you want the best flavor profile. I mean, that's why we cook, we want it to taste great! Plus, you aren't adding in extra ingredients you can't control to the recipe.

How do you make horseradish sauce?

It couldn't be easier to make this sauce. Combine all the ingredients into a small bowl, whisk together, let it chill a bit. Then try not to eat it with the spoon once it's done.

What to serve this with?

    • Prime Rib
    • Steak (I personally love this on my Garlic Butter Steak Bites!)
    • Roast Beef
    • Pork Chops
    • Chicken
    • Veggies and more
