If you are looking for a delicious dip to make for your next party, this classic Ham and Cheese Ball is your answer.
It is time to up your party trays. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with an excellent simple ranch dip with veggies, but we can do better without a whole lot of extra work. After all, we still want to enjoy the parties we are throwing and attending, right?
Cheese balls are one of my go-to favorites to make for tailgates and holiday parties. I love how simple they are to make, and they can be made ahead of time.
This Ham and Cheese Ball recipe is adapted from a friend's recipe. She made it for a party, and my husband fell in love with cheese balls. I’m not even kidding; he can eat a whole one by himself without even thinking about sharing with anyone because he loves them so much.
All I did was tweak a few ingredients (hers had gluten), and BAM, I have a new favorite for him to enjoy and me too, when he shares, lol.

Ingredients in Ham and Cheese Ball
- Cream Cheese
- Parmesan Cheese
- Cheddar Cheese
- Coconut Aminos
- Green Onion
- Ham (I use Applegate Brand)
- Garlic Powder
- Salt
- White Pepper
The hardest part about making this is creating the coating, but that’s not hard at all. Lay a piece of saran wrap on a flat surface. Dice some slice of Applegate ham into small squares and arrange them in a circle with slightly overlapping edges. This creates the outer layer on the finished cheese ball.
How to Make Ham and Cheese Ball
Create the shell of ham, toss the remaining ingredients into a food processor, pulse till combined, then place the filling in the middle of the shell, wrap the ball, letting the shell fall stick to the outer part of the cheese ball. Then chill and serve with ready.
Can this Made Ahead?
Yes! This recipe works great made ahead and can even be frozen and defrosted with ready-to-serve!
